Dr Baldev Raj

Dr. Baldev Raj is the Director at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR). He completed his B.E. and later Ph.D from Ravishankar University and IISc, respectively. He is the Elected Member of the German National Academy of Sciences (2008); Vice President, MRSI (2008-2011); Foreign Secretary, Indian National Academy of Engineering (since 2005); Member, Board of Directors of International Institute of Welding; Standing Advisory Group on Nuclear Energy of IAEA; and Member, Scientific Advisory Council to Prime Minister (since 2005).

Dr. Raj's areas of specialisation include Science and Technology; Fast Breeder Reactor with Closed Fuel Cycle; Materials characterization; and Testing and Evaluation using non-destructive evaluation methodologies, among others. |
A published author of national and international journals, books, special journal volumes, reviews and articles, Dr. Raj has also delivered more than 200 honours, plenary, key note and invited lectures. He has five Indian Standards and 15 patents in the area of NDT. |
Dr. Raj is the recipient of several awards—the recent ones include the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (2008); Padma Shri, Government of India (2007); National NDT Award for International Recognition from Indian Society for Non-Destructive Testing (2006); and Stanley Ehrlich Gold Medal Lecture, Corrosion Awareness Award form NACE International India Section (2006). |
