Dr. Ramachandran Thekkedath has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Cochin University of Science and Technology. Son of the late Sankara Narayanan Namboodiri and Unikkali Antharjanam of Nhangattiri Kannannur Thekkedath Mana, the 52 year old Ramachandran, had his primary schooling at Nhangattiri UP School and then at Pattambi Perumudiyur Oriental High School. He did his BSc at St Thomas College, Thrissur in Physics and then proceeded to Cusat for MSc. He did his PhD in Physics (Laser Technology) from Cochin University. Worked about ten years, from 1987 to 1997 at Sree Chitra Institute,Trivandrum as scientist. Presently he is involved in biomedical research and development.
