Dr. Elby Titus is a Principal Research Scientist with University of Aveiro and has been working on carbon nanotubes (CNT) and related materials for the last nine years. Dr. Elby has obtained her PhD from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Bombay, India and has worked with the premier research institute Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India. She has expertise in the growth of CNT using microwave plasma (MP) chemical vapour deposition (CVD), hot filament (HF) CVD and laser ablation techniques. Her current research is focused on Spintronics and Hydrogen storage applications of carbon materials. She won the “Women’s Scientist Award” in 2003 from the Ministry of Science and Technology, India for her outstanding work on the synthesis of CNT/polymer films and their applications in solar cells. She was invited speaker to various conferences (MP3-2005, nanotrends-2006, Cochin nano 2009, 4th FICCI, Energy technologies forum, India. 2008 (www.ficci.com). She is the founder and organizer of the International Conference on Advanced Nano Materials (ANM-2007, ANM-2008). She was selected in Nanochallenge2006, the Final phase of International Nanotechnology Business Plan Competition, in Padua, November 2006. She was Guest Editor to Journal of Nanosceince and Nanotechnology (2007) and is also Referee to International Scientific Journals (Thin Solid Films, Journal of Materials Research, Journal of Vacuum, Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Applied surface Science, Diamond and Related Materials, Physics B). She has 40 publications in refereed journals, 30 papers presented in conferences and two book chapters.
