Dr. Kota Murali is the Lead Scientist and Program Manager of Nanotechnology at IBM India. He obtained his MS and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He got his Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Bangalore University while also being a KVPY National Science Fellow at the Indian Institute of Science and Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research from 1997-2001. He was a summer fellow at Caltech in 2002, and a Visiting Scientist at the IBM-Stanford Centre for Spintronics Applications at IBM Almaden in 2004. He is an Adjunct faculty member at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, a guest lecturer at the Indian Institute of Science, and a member of the Indo-US high technology cooperation group. Prior to joining IBM India, Dr. Murali was a Research manager of nanotechnology at Motorola India Research. His research interests are in the areas of nano materials and devices for electronics, spin and superconducting based quantum devices, and energy technologies.
